The Golden Nugget, this is
among the best buffets you'll find anywhere in town. Exquisitely
decorated, the room features brass-framed etched glass booth
dividers and food-station hoods, plus urns, statuary, beveled
mirrors and gorgeous chandeliers. Soup, salads including Caesar and
Greek, sushi and peel-and-eat shrimp are just the beginning.
Exhibition entrée station is backed by a colorful mural, pasta and
carved to order turkey, roast beef and ham, plus imaginative
creations such as Peking chicken, poached grouper, broiled rib-eye
with Burgundy mushroom sauce and pork chops with garlic and rosemary
are turned out with a flair. The signature bread pudding in an
oversized copper chafing dish and the chocolate mousse cake are
longtime favorites at the expansive dessert station, where the
carrot cake, vanilla pudding and banana cake are also outstanding. |

With exquisite cuisine offered all day and
evening at 17 action stations, diners have an extensive array of
choices. Seating in the elegant smoke-free complex is divided into
several very comfortable rooms with tile, marble or carpeted floors.
Even the large disposable napkins, more like linen than paper, are
first-class. The sushi and smoked salmon station is popular.
Tamarind-glazed salmon with rice pilaf is a favorite at The Grill.
At the American station, jumbo grilled asparagus and pesto mashed
potatoes are winners. We love the steamed black mussels and Atlantic
salmon at the seafood station, together with the crispy focaccia and
lotsa pasta at the Italian counter. King crab legs, rack of lamb and
the carving station are dinner favorites. Outstanding baba au rhum
and carrot cake with pecans are among gourmet-style desserts,

Buffet Dining Experience, Cravings offers bountiful displays of
attractively presented fare in a spacious setting where a colorful
striped carpet, gleaming brass, copper, stainless steel and marble
lend a cheerful ambience. Expect slight variations of the daily
offerings. At the Raw Bar are mounds of shrimp, crab legs and
ceviche, plus platters of smoked salmon. The adjacent Fishmonger's
shrimp bisque is sublime. Delicious seafood entree include mussels
in wine, cioppino, steamed catfish with tomato butter and sea bass
with spinach. The Barbecue features tasty ribs, corn muffins and
baked sweet potatoes; Rotisserie choices include bacon-wrapped pork
loin and Caesar salad. Among popular specialties from the Latin
kitchen are chicken enchiladas, sausage with sweet peppers, fajitas,
Spanish rice and plantains; served at the Italian station are
antipasto salad, minestrone, pizzas, baked ziti and chicken Marsala.
At the carving station, chefs slice prime rib and turkey to-order.
At Noodles, we like the dim sum and sushi; try the Chinese station's
appealing egg drop soup, kimchi and Mongolian beef. Among
irresistible desserts are bread pudding, cobblers, pies, cakes,
cookies and gelato flavors such as bananas Foster and tropical
fruit. |

Treasure Island's makeover of its buffet restaurant has transformed
it into a very modern experience, with some throwbacks to bygone
days. Gleaming stainless steel abounds in six live-action stations
designed to resemble a street of shops. Salads are attractively
displayed on a chilled marble table, with imaginative combinations
made to order. We like the watercress with smoked turkey, blue
cheese, grapes, walnuts and champagne dressing. The Pasta Station's
tagliatelle with wild mushrooms, roasted chicken and thyme is a
winner, as are the seafood medley and the Mediterranean pizzas. The
Asian sushi and lo mein are delicious; so are the savory brisket and
pork turned out in the barbecue's wood-burning oven. For dinner, an
enthusiastic server rolls a chili cart with two chili choices that
change weekly. Many of the desserts are prepared in an old-fashioned
pie oven and displayed on an iron baker's rack. Complementing the
dinner fare is a coffee machine where diners may serve themselves
cappuccino, café latte, espresso and much more. |

Colorful flags hang from
the ceiling in this spacious buffet, each one with the name of the
serving station it fronts. National and international specialties
run the gamut of almost every cuisine, every ethnicity. All the
traditional buffet items are offered along with some surprises such
as an exotic Hawaiian manapua or soy poke (fish). The Fresh Market
area mirrors a farmer's market where, for starters, we fill a plate
with Caesar salad surrounded by tastings of marinated red and yellow
bell peppers; and artichoke, asparagus and pasta salads. From the
Asian station, we like the sweet-and-sour soup, egg rolls and kung
pao chicken. Pastas and pizzas are signatures of the Italian
station. From the BBQ Grill, we love the platter-sized beef ribs
which we pair with rice pilaf, and the pork chops. Dinner guests
always devour the shellfish. At the Mediterranean station there is
hummus, kibbeh and tabbouleh, with Jewish kugel, knishes and bagels
nearby. Turkey is carved to order for lunch, prime rib is featured
for dinner. Most holidays are honored with appropriate specialties.

and hand-painted ceiling beams, this palatial buffet emporium not
only is probably the most beautiful one in the valley, but also
displays exquisite food to match. Designed to accommodate every
taste and dietary need, it even includes a low-carb menu. At
live-action cooking stations, chefs prepare such imaginative fare as
tortellini with chicken and broccoli in garlic butter, plus pizzas
at the Tuscan Trattoria, and saffron rice pilaf and honey-poppyseed
carrots to accompany fried catfish and brisket at Americana. At the
Dynasty Grill, diners select vegetables that chefs cook on the
Mongolian grill; the best bok choy we've ever had is prepared here.
The colorful Farmers Market offers appealing breads, salads, fruits
and vegetables. The Mexico International Market turns out
traditional south-of-the-border specialties. Most of the stations
present delicious soups that reflect their cuisine. Mounds of shrimp
and crab legs are among dinner favorites. Sweet Dreams are favorites
all day and evening---we like the peach pie, eight ice cream flavors
including Reese's peanut butter cup and banana fudge, and array of
tarts and cookies. |

regions, this dazzling all-you-can-eat restaurant features classic
French food and seasonal specialties under a faux sky in a

mushrooms are typical of Normandy with its blue-patterned tiles. Coq
au vin represents Burgundy, while breads, pastas and sautéed sea bass
with artichoke crust typify Provence, duck braised with Riesling
might represent Alsace. The centerpiece of the village, a charming
